Fertilizer Day

What is a Fertilizer Day?
A Fertilizer Day is one of those days when everything seems to go wrong. The kind of day where nothing works out, frustration builds up, and failure feels like the main event. In short, it’s a shitty day—but instead of just labeling it as bad, we choose to change the story we tell ourselves.
The word fertilizer is intentional. In nature, fertilizer is made from waste and decay, but it’s also what helps plants grow. In the same way, we choose to see our hardest days as fuel for our future growth. It may not feel like it at the moment, but those struggles—failures, frustrations, and disappointments—can become the very things that help us develop and improve.
Instead of getting stuck in the negativity of a bad day, we call it a Fertilizer Day to shift our perspective. This doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine—it just means recognizing that even the worst days can plant the seeds for something better. Maybe we don’t see the growth yet, but it’s happening.
This mindset doesn’t erase real pain or tragedy. Some losses and hardships are deep and can’t just be “reframed.” But even in those moments, over time, we might find meaning, strength, or a deeper appreciation for what we still have.
The core idea behind a Fertilizer Day is this: Life doesn’t happen to us. Life happens for us.
Even when everything feels like it’s falling apart, something new is taking root. We’re not pretending bad days don’t suck—they do. But instead of letting them drag us down, we recognize them for what they are: fertilizer for the future.
